Would you like to learn how to get your youtube videos to auto-play on your website? Are you wondering whether not it would be beneficial for you to do this or not? The pro’s and con’s of doing this vary depending on the purpose your video plays on your website first.
In this day and age we have informational overload with TV, Internet, radio and magazines. We find ourselves in a society where our attention span is less then a gold fish. In the old days the average TV ad would go for 60 seconds, they then went down to 30 seconds, 15 seconds, 10 seconds and now 5 seconds. We have even gone as far as having 2 second commercials called blink ads and in fact an American lock manufacturer has created the worlds first one-second “Blink ad”. As a viewer you don’t even have time to change the channel or walk off and have a snack – it literally starts and is over within a second!
Did you know that the average time spent on a webpage is not even 60 seconds? Although that 60 seconds is out the window if you don’t “grab” them literally in the first 5 seconds! This means for you to have any hope in them spending the time to read through your website content you had better have an damn good header, title and tagline!
For this reason video’s or audio narratives have very good results in “grabbing” your audience. People are interested in people. When they are hear and see a face speaking to them, providing interesting, valuable information and or giving them some kind of offer they are much more likely to respond.
In the case of a lead capture page or blog there is no doubt auto-play is the most effective way to get that persons attention. Just keep in mind that while they are listening and or watching a video they will not be able to concentrate on reading written content at the same time. For this reason the position of your video is important so as not to interrupt the flow of your page
I find in having your youtube video auto-play as in the case of a lead capture or welcome video you are able to get your new visitors attention when they come on your blog. If you would like to go ahead and implement this follow the instructions below. I have included a video on how to do this incase it helps.
How to make your Youtube video auto-play
1. So you have your embed code like below:
<object width=”480″ height=”385″><param name=”movie” value=”http://www.youtube.com/v/J6G6FdVMvnM&hl=en_US&fs=1&“></param><param name=”allowFullScreen” value=”true”></param><param name=”allowscriptaccess” value=”always”></param><embed src=”http://www.youtube.com/v/J6G6FdVMvnM&hl=en_US&fs=1&” type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” allowscriptaccess=”always” allowfullscreen=”true” width=”480″ height=”385″></embed></object>
2. What you need to now do is add the sections highlighted below to the embed code you have on your word pad.

3. You can now copy and paste your new embed code with the auto-play feature into your website.

It’s hard enough for some people to just start making a video… let alone make it interesting, or embedding it in their blog.
In this video… you’ve shown your readers an easy-to-follow procedure that will definitely get them on to the road to producing more videos. With the advice you gave, it just might serve as the catalyst to get them in to “video-mode”.
Great article for the newbie and anyone who may be a little bit nervous about seeing themselves on camera…. you (obviously) addressed that too!
